Yes that’s right boys and girls, Halo shipped yesterday and should be on store shelves at most places that sell software today. Some of you lucky bastards out there were able to purchase the game yesterday… bah! ;-P It’s ok though, we’ll all have the game in our greedy lil hands soon enough.
Still waiting on Gearbox to release the Halo dedicated server files for download, figured they’d be out by now. This was supposed to be a ‘Hardfought Halo server is UP!!’ post dammit!! :-) The second I get ’em, rest assured I’ll have a server up and going, whether I have the game yet or not. Looking forward to playing with the setup and seeing how well it performs.
Some improvements to the site have been made, most noticeably the ‘Files’ section. Found a php script that ties in with the msgboard – tracks downloads, users can rate files, can view download stats, the layout is much better than before, and it also prevents people other than registered users from downloading. Right now there’s just one file up – Halo retail client patch version 1.01… and the freakin’ game isn’t even really out yet! Heh :-) Expect to see other downloads there for Halo, such as more patches, mods, player models/skins and custom maps.
