A special new variant post today, as this is my own variant. Been working on this since October 2018, finally felt it was ready for mass consumption two days ago. So many hours pouring over the code, testing things, tweaking, etc… I can’t count. EvilHack has been available for public play since Last month, but it was very much in the alpha stage. Fair amount of play-testing was done by the Hardfought NetHack community here, which helped immensely in finding and resolving bugs. A huge thanks to everyone who played and provided feedback.
Ok, so you’re interested in giving EvilHack a shot? Great! Understand going in that it was designed from the beginning to be difficult and challenging, significantly more so than vanilla NetHack. A bit more info regarding EvilHack can be found at this reddit post – https://www.reddit.com/r/nethack/comments/br2u6c/evilhack_official_release/ – and soon much more info will make its way to the NetHackWiki here – https://nethackwiki.com/wiki/EvilHack
If you give EvilHack a try, please feel free to let me know how it went, what you liked or didn’t like, etc. Have fun and good luck!
In other news: NetHack 3.6.2 was officially released less than two weeks ago. And the JunetHack 2019 variant tournament is fast approaching go time, sign-up starts on May 27th. EvilHack will be a part of this tournament this year. That’s all for now, will post again soon regarding JunetHack.
